EuroGPR code of practice for the use of GPR systems
The modern world relies upon a wide variety of radio systems for many diverse activities, from systems upon which the safety of life depends, through communications and broadcasting, to many other activities. These many diverse systems operate successfully together because the compatibility issue for each has been carefully considered in terms of the context of the entire radio spectrum. While these systems will usually operate successfully together for many years, interference between them may on occasions stil occur due to exceptional situations.
In this context GPR systems are no different from other radio systems and the radiation emitted from every GPR system is therefore carefully evaluated as part of its design process, to minimise the likelihood of interfere with other radio systems. The inappropriate actions of GPR operators however, may easily upset this delicate balance and therefore, in 2006 EuroGPR published a code of practice for its members, in order to ensure
the causes of such unlikely events are well understood; that GPR users are made aware of them and adopt appropriate procedures to manage them effectively.
In 2009 the EuroGPR Code of Practice was endorsed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) as ETSI EG 202 730. The official code of practice in respect of the control, use and application of GPR, for every country within the EU and all those who also follow ETSI standards. Since then, many other countries around the globe have benefited from its adoption or, adapted it to suit their own local requirements.
