12th International Conference of GPR announcement

EuroGPR is delighted to announce that the bid by the University of Birmingham in collaboration with EuroGPR to host the 12th International Conference of Ground Penetrating Radar in June 2008 on the university campus has been successful. The conference is scheduled to run from the 15th to the 18th June.

The departments of Civil Engineering, Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Information Services, the Institute of Archaeology and Antiquity and the HP Visual and Spatial Technology (HP Vista) Centre are contributing to the organisation and support of the conference. These departments are leading collaborative projects in GPR involving numerous other UK university departments. Additional University involvement and support of the conference comes through membership with EuroGPR.

The UK leads the commercial development of GPR in Europe. EuroGPR, as the trade association, now has approaching 60 members, approximately two thirds of whom are UK based. An industry day is proposed with a seminar "Research into Applications" running in parallel to the conference, reviewing the economic benefits of the technology and setting future research objectives. This has already attracted industrial sponsorship for the event that has not been present previously. EuroGPR will offer new student travel bursaries and continue to offer its best application paper prize.
